About Us - General Information
The School: Timothy Christian School (school code: 311-212) operates on the premise that the Word of God requires that parents be responsible for the education of their children (Deut. 6; Psalm 78). The Christian home, Christian school, and the Church must work together to provide consistent Christian training. Our school works in harmony with parents to achieve this objective. Therefore, we strive to provide the finest academic education possible in accordance with God’s Word. Timothy Christian School is a K-12 independent, co-educational college preparatory school. TCS was founded in 1949, and the current total enrollment in grades K-12 is 630 students. TCS is accredited by both the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Christian Schools International. The Community: The school is located on what was previously known as the Camp Kilmer Army Base in Piscataway, NJ. This base was used in the mid-1940’s as a processing center for troops heading overseas during World War II and as a refugee camp for Hungarian immigrants during the 1950’s. In 1960, Timothy Christian School moved from its previous location in the basement of a local church to its present 25-acre location in Camp Kilmer. The current campus of Timothy Christian School consists of eight buildings and an auditorium/gymnasium. Our location 25 miles outside of New York City allows for a very diverse, multi-cultural environment. We are also within minutes of Rutgers University. The Faculty: The faculty and staff for the 2006-2007 school year is comprised of 80 committed Christians from a variety of denominational and ethnic backgrounds. Collectively, the faculty holds 23 graduate degrees and two doctorate degrees and the 51 members of the teaching staff average 13 years of teaching experience. The Student: To be considered for enrollment, full-day Kindergarten students must be five years old prior to October 1. First grade students must be six years old prior to October 1, or have previous Kindergarten experience. Grade placement for students in grades 1-12 is determined by previous academic performance and standardized test scores.
